You choose the moment — a family portrait, a wedding day, a beloved pet — and upload it through our designer above. We check resolution and colour balance so the finished puzzle looks as sharp as the original print.

Select Your Maple Board
Choose from three grades of sustainably harvested maple — Classic, Reserve, and Heirloom — each milled to a consistent 5mm thickness for a smooth, satisfying weight in hand.

Laser-Cut by Hand
Our artisans guide each board through the laser table themselves, tracing unique whimsy-piece shapes — no two puzzles share an identical cut. This is the slowest, most deliberate step in the process.

Sanded & Inspected
Every edge is hand-sanded smooth, every piece test-fitted, and the full image checked against your original upload before it earns the Atelier stamp on the back panel.

Boxed & Delivered

Ordering & Customization
What photos work best for a custom puzzle?
High-resolution photos (at least 1500px on the longest side) with good lighting and clear subjects give the sharpest results. We'll flag anything too low-resolution during checkout so you can swap it before we cut.
Can I preview my puzzle before ordering?
Yes — upload your photo in the designer and you'll see a live before-and-after preview along with a solvable mock-up of the piece layout before you pay.
How many piece counts and sizes are available?
Every puzzle can be ordered at 48, 100, 252, or 500 pieces, in Small (8x10"), Medium (11x14"), or Large (16x20"). Bigger sizes hold more piece detail for photos with several faces.
Materials & Craftsmanship
What's the difference between Classic, Reserve, and Heirloom maple?
Classic is our standard 5mm birch-faced maple. Reserve upgrades to a denser, finer-grain maple with a satin finish. Heirloom adds a hand-rubbed oil finish and a personalized engraved edge piece.
Is the wood sustainably sourced?
All our maple comes from FSC-certified North American forests, and offcuts from the laser-cutting process are recycled into smaller keepsake pieces rather than discarded.
Are the pieces machine-cut or hand-cut?
An artisan guides every board through the laser table by hand, which is why no two puzzles share an identical whimsy-piece pattern — see The Maple Process page for the full walkthrough.
Shipping & Delivery
How long does production and shipping take?
Production takes 3–5 business days since every board is cut and inspected by hand. Standard shipping adds 2–6 business days depending on destination; rush production is available at checkout.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we ship to over 30 countries. All shipping is carbon-neutral, and international orders include tracking and customs documentation at checkout.
Can I ship a puzzle directly as a gift?
Absolutely — choose "This is a gift" at checkout to add a hand-written note and remove the receipt/price from the keepsake box.
Care & Storage
How should I clean and store my puzzle?
Wipe pieces gently with a dry or barely-damp cloth — avoid soaking, since the maple is untreated on Classic boards. Store flat in the included keepsake box, away from direct sunlight and humidity.
Can I frame or mount the finished puzzle?
Yes — our Medium and Large sizes match standard frame dimensions. We also offer an optional puzzle glue and frame bundle at checkout for turning your solved puzzle into wall art.
Returns & Guarantee
What if a piece is missing or damaged?
Every puzzle carries a lifetime guarantee against missing or defective pieces. Contact us with your order number and we'll ship a replacement piece or a new puzzle at no cost.
Can I return a custom puzzle if I'm not happy with it?
Because each puzzle is cut to order, we can't offer exchanges for buyer's remorse, but if the print quality or cut doesn't match your preview, we'll remake or refund it within 30 days.
